Gerakan Penanaman Pohon sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kesadaran Masyarakat terhadap Pelestarian Lingkungan di Desa Lalowiu

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen residents' environmental awareness and participation in environmental conservation through outreach and tree planting. Conducted on 19 July 2026 in Lalowiu Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency, the program involved 30 participants from the village government, community leaders, youth, and community-service students of Universitas Sulawesi Tenggara. The participatory approach comprised preparation, outreach and discussion, demonstration and collective planting, and evaluation through observation and brief interviews. The results showed that all 30 participants took part in tree planting, discussions and question-and-answer sessions were active, and the village government and community expressed commitment to maintaining the trees. The direct impacts were the addition of vegetation at the agreed planting sites, strengthened collaboration among the university, village government, and community, and the emergence of a shared maintenance commitment. Because no pretest-posttest or tree-survival monitoring was conducted, changes in knowledge and long-term ecological impacts cannot yet be quantified. Program sustainability therefore requires clear maintenance responsibilities, periodic monitoring of tree survival, and follow-up evaluation.
